Faith is an Action Word

I believe that anything in life can be achieved with just a little bit of enthusiasm. Dedication is the start but smiling is what gets you through. Technically happiness is a state of being, but personally, I think of it as a goal. Everyday I set the goal to be happy. Some days I fail; other days I over achieve. Subsequently I start off my day the same... With a smile on my face having the faith that my day will be better than the one before.

Sister Ivins

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, commonly known as Mormon.  Being apart of this church brings me unmeasurable joy.  During great trials I am able to turn to my heavenly father for guidance and love.  Having him as a constant companion is a blessing that I will never be able to repay.  In current news the age of LDS missionaries has been changed.  Previously elders went out at 18 and sisters at 21.  Now with modern day revelation elders can go at 18 and sisters at 19!  Hearing this announcement on October 6, 2012 brought me such excitement, knowing that I could serve a mission in just a few months.  In addition to enthusiasm, nervousness began to consume me.  Am I ready to serve? Am I ready to change the rest of my life for the lord?  Will I be content with  not verbally talking or seeing my family and friends for 18 months?  Can I cope with the fact that I will be far away from home living, eating and breathing the gospel?  Overall could I handle the sacrifice of a mission?

With much fasting and prayer the answer became a definite yes.  With Christ I can do anything!  By the next weekend I started my papers.  By Thursday March 14, 2013 they were completed.  The church assigns mission calls every friday which means that today my photo appeared in front of a group of sustained elders who then prayerfully chose where I am meant to serve.  Now I wait, till next Thursday when I can open that beautiful white envelope and read the words that I have impatiently wanted to hear.

I know that wherever I am called is where I am supposed to go.  There are people I need to meet and experiences that I will use to guide the rest of my life.
